LAH-
first, congrats on your swede. i was an exchange student to sweden five years ago and it was one of the best years of my life. the language, like english, is of the nothern germanic language family, so it is a bit similar, but don't expect to understand a word at first! with a desire to learn and a gritty determination, i'm sure you'll do fine however. i was quite fluent after about four months (languages are my first love and probably my strongest point too) so don't be too intimidated. i'm not quite sure about swdish law reagrding becoming a citizen (i.e., i don;'t know if it automatic for marrying a swede as it is in the u.s.), but i do know that if you will not be able to become a swedish citizen if you do not renounce your american citizenship- they are a very patriotic, almost xenophobic, nation, and they simply do not allow you to hold two passports. if you have been following olympic hockey, you may have seen this exact legality play itself out with swedish defenseman ulf samuelsson. this is an issue which i have always thought may trouble me someday as i still have strong ties to that beautiful country and know that since i plan on living there for a while after i have saved up some cash, the possibility of falling in ove with and marrying a swedish girl is still quite real. anyway, good luck, or as they say in swedish, "lycka till"!!! also, feel free to write me at markjd@kl.com if you have any more questins about sweden/swedish, there's few things that i enjoy discussing more!!!
