I studied in Lund for Six months and dhave been to Sweden three times now. One thing really confuses me. Many of my Swedish friends criticized the United States by making comments about how the capatalist system was so terrible. Well, I admit that it is not a perfect system, but Sweden's system of social democracy is not providing jobs for Swedes. I can go out and easily find a job in one day in the city where I live. Unemployment in Sweden is extremely high, and the people rely on the Government for finances. Tell me, Who is in control in the social democratic system? Swedes would be in trouble if their government stopped the welfare system instantly, but the government could change their policies by encouraging the diverse business economy that the United States has. Does that mean Sweden would be a capitalistic society? Probably so, but what better alternatives can you think of??? |
