Most of your questions can only be answered by your boyfriend, but I will make an attempt none the less.

: 1. How long does it generally take?
Anywhere from 7.5 to 15 months, depending on if he will be a group or platoon leader or just a private. Most common is 7.5 months.

: 2. Are trainees allowed contact with the outside world (i.e. visits from guests, phone calls, internet access, etc)?
I would say that Internet access is rare, but normal mail is usually not a problem. Phone calls are possible, but also depends on if he is in the proximity of a phone. Visits are usually only allowed on "visitor's day", but weekend passes are common.

: 3. How far away from home are they stationed, in general?
Anywhere in Sweden.

: 4. Do they receive any breaks for holidays, etc?
Usually, depending on their task. Guards may be assigned duty at any time.

Most of this depends on the nature of his assignment. Hope this helped you out, don't worry too much.
