: I have great-grandparents, named Peter Gustav Peterson and Anna Christina Ericson (or dotter). They came to the USA around 1880. The husband was from the village or parish of Guar Brack, and his wife was from a place called Lannin. I have not been able to locate these places. They are not on any maps I have looked at. Does anyone know where I can locate them?

Dear Mr Frame,
I have looked through Svensk ortsfortecknng, a book with 956 pages which holds just about every places there is in Sweden, down to the smallest farm. I have tried to twist and turn your place names butI still havenīt found anything that matches your places. Is your names in old hand writing and could it be misinterpreted? Could there be any of the Swedish dots above the a? The closest I got is a farm called Guarp near Falkenberg (west coast). The place of Lannin is more difficult as it can give you so many more options. Were they married when they came to America? If so it is very likely that they were from the same area, but if they were two Swedes who met in America they could just as well be from diffrerent places in Sweden. Sorry, I donīt wish to sound nosy, but I īve done a bit of genealogical research myself on our family and it takes patience and fantasy. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Good Luck.
Maud Kilegran
